Chrome 150 Release

Google has published the release of the web browser Chrome 150. At the same time, a stable release of the free project Chromium, which serves as the basis of Chrome, is available. The Chrome browser differs from Chromium in the use of Google logos, the presence of a system for sending notifications in case of a crash, modules for playing copy-protected video content (DRM), an automatic update installation system, the constant inclusion of Sandbox isolation, supplying keys to the Google API and passing RLZ parameters during searches. For those who need more time to update, the Extended Stable branch is separately supported, followed by 8 weeks. The next release of Chrome 151 is scheduled for July 28.

Major changes in Chrome 150 (1, 2,3, 4):

  • The first results of an initiative to update the design of the interface on different operating systems and eliminate its excesses are offered. There are new icons with smoother borders and animation effects for buttons, such as the buttons for opening the main menu and reloading the page. The structure of context menus has been simplified, eliminating rarely used or duplicate elements. A more modern design of the configurator, download manager and page for navigating through bookmarks has been used.
  • The development of the AI mode has continued, allowing you to interact with the AI agent from the address bar or from the page shown when opening a new tab. The new version adds the ability to connect Chrome to the Gemini Spark AI agent to autonomously perform actions in the current active tab while solving assigned tasks that require interaction with web content (clicking buttons, following links, filling out forms, etc.). In addition, the output of contextual recommendations for using Gemini when working with the browser has been added, for example, when opening a large article, Chrome will offer to summarize the information using Gemini, and when editing text in a form, it will recommend checking or correcting the text using Gemini.
