ArchBang Linux Distribution 010726 Released

ArchBang has recently released version 010726, a lightweight Linux distribution based on Arch Linux and featuring a user interface built on the MangoWM composite manager. This distribution offers a continuous update cycle, ensuring users always have access to the latest software versions from the Arch Linux repositories. The iso image for this release is 1.4 GB in size.

In this new version, ArchBang has made the switch to using MangoWM as the default lightweight composite manager. Previously, the distribution used Labwc and Openbox. MangoWM offers functionality similar to the DWM window manager, utilizing the Wayland protocol. It distinguishes itself by organizing windows into groups using tags instead of virtual desktops, with a focus on stability and usability. New features are only added if they significantly enhance everyday work.

Alongside the transition to MangoWM, the latest release of ArchBang also includes an optional graphical installer called abi-install. This installer serves as an alternative to the console installer and is presented as a web interface based on Cockpit, accessible through Firefox.
