ReactOS Runs Half-Life 2, Adopts First Vista Call

The developers of the open operating system ReactOS, aimed at ensuring compatibility with Microsoft Windows programs and drivers, achieved the successful launch of the game Half-Life 2, which was demonstratedon real hardware. The game was launched at a resolution of 2560×1440 on a computer with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 video card and a SoundBlaster Audigy sound card, for which the proprietary NVIDIA 368.61 video driver and sound driver from the Audigy SupportPack 7.0 were used. A month ago, ReactOS managed to run the games Half-Life and Unreal Tournament 2004.

In addition, a few days ago ReactOS included adopted implementation of the system call cbNtGetCurrentProcessorNumberEx, which allows you to determine the number of the CPU on which the program that sent the request is running. cbNtGetCurrentProcessorNumberEx became the first system call implemented in RectOS from the NT 6 kernel, used in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Previously, the ReactOS project was limited to ensuring compatibility with the NT 5.2 kernel, used in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
