A new RDPClient has been released for the operating system KolibriOS, with the program written in assembly language. The development process utilized Kos-32 based on GCC-5.4.0 as the cross-compilation toolkit. To achieve an encrypted channel, the statically linked BearSSL library was incorporated. Due to the limitations of KolibriOS and its tools, development was primarily conducted in C language with direct access to system calls. The AI assistant Claude played a role in the development process.
The implemented features of the RDPClient include dynamic window resizing, audio playback from a remote desktop, and support for 15/16/24/32-bit color depths. Additionally, it offers EGFX modes and bidirectional text clipboard support. However, there are also unimplemented features such as clipboards other than text, disk forwarding, H264 codec support, and device forwarding.
One potential use case for this new RDPClient is to create a thin client similar to RDPKiosk, but on KolibriOS. This development marks a significant advancement in providing remote desktop capabilities on the KolibriOS platform.
