The LineageOS project has launched a new section with statistics of firmware usage. It is stated that the project has almost 1.5 million active installations, of which only 26% (374 thousand) are official builds, and 74% (1.1 million) affect unofficial builds compiled by third-party projects. The leader in the device rating is not a smartphone, but Waydroid, an environment for running Android applications on Linux. In second place is the Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone, which is more than 2 times behind Waydroid in terms of the number of installations.
The largest number of installations are in the USA (339 thousand installations), China (298 thousand), Brazil (280 thousand), Russia (62 thousand) and Vietnam (55 thousand). In Russia and the USA, 2/3 of installations were made not on smartphones: in the USA, installations on Waydroid, Nintendo Switch and Raspberry Pi are popular, and in Russia, almost all installations are launched on Waydroid. In China, Brazil and Vietnam, the majority of installations are made by smartphones: in China, Xiaomi Mi 8 is the leader in the number of installations by a wide margin, in Brazil – Motorola moto g7, and in Vietnam – Samsung Galaxy S7.

Only 8.8% of installations use the latest version of LineageOS 23.2, and 8.1% and 5.4% use versions 22.2 and 21.1, for which it is operative updates are generated that eliminate vulnerabilities. 73.4% of installations are accounted for by outdated versions 20.0 (29.9%), 18.1 (23.7%), 17.1 (14.3%) and 19.1 (5.5%). For the LineageOS 18, 19 and 20 branches, backporting patches to eliminate vulnerabilities continues and fixes from the July Google update are currently available for them. For LineageOS branches 14, 15, 16 and 17, the backporting process is significantly more complicated due to changes in the code bases. Updates as of November 2025 are currently available for LineageOS 16 and 17 branches. For the LineageOS 14 and 15 branches, they plan to adapt patches for November 2025 in the near future.
Other recent achievements of LineageOS include the beginning of the development of LineageOS 24 based on Android 17 and the appearance of web interface for installing firmware through browsers on the Chromium engine that support the WebUSB API. Flashing is possible in ADB modes (Recovery mode),
Fastboot (Fastboot / Fastbootd) and Odin (Samsung).
Also mentioned is a significant update to the Updater app, which features a new interface using the Material 3 Expressive
