Available release of the project fheroes2 1.1.17, which recreates the Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine from scratch. The project code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv2 license. To run the game, game resource files are required, which can be obtained from the original Heroes of Might and Magic II game. The project includes a script for automatically loading and extracting resources from the demo version of the game, which are sufficient for full operation.
Basic changes:
- Added automatic map testing mode in the editor, allowing you to run automatic scenarios for AI players and monitor the development of the game without user intervention.


- The ability to switch between objects of the same group by scrolling the mouse wheel.

- The behavior of artificial intelligence has been improved: heroes now use the ability to stay in castles to receive a movement bonus, they fight more effectively against summoned phantoms and correctly use the “Teleport” spell on creatures under the influence of “Berserk”.
- The AI moves have been accelerated without changing the logic of its behavior.
- Smooth inertial camera movement has been added on the adventure map.
- Improvements have been made to the mode “Battle” and fixed various interface problems.

- The random map generator has been improved, object placement errors have been fixed.
- Owners of Android devices can now extract game resources directly from the GOG installer.
- The game startup time has been reduced and the use of RAM has been optimized.
- Over 30 error notifications and suggestions for improving the project have been closed.
