OpenWrt has introduced a corrective release of the 25.12.5 distribution developed for network devices like routers, switches, and access points. This distribution supports over 2200 devices and provides a build system that simplifies cross-compiling and creating customized firmware builds. The released builds are optimized for specific tasks with pre-installed packages, and ready builds have been published for 41 target platforms.
Key changes in this release include the addition of support for various devices such as Linksys MR9000, GL.iNET GL-MT3600BE, Huasifei WH3000R, JioRouter AX6000, and others across different chipsets like ipq40xx, mediatek, mvebu, and ramips. New build options have been added for previously supported devices on mediatek chips, and corrections have been made for platforms like ath79, mediatek, ramips, and others for improved stability.
Furthermore, the release includes updates like a new handler for indicating network interface activity through LED indicators, fixes for stability issues in several network services, and updated versions of the Linux kernel, OpenSSL, wireless-regdb, dnsmasq, and more. Vulnerabilities in network services like odhcpd, LuCI, luci-app-tailscale-community, uhttpd, and cgi-io have been addressed to prevent remote exploits, along with fixes for accumulated vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel, OpenSSL, musl, and Dropbear SSH.
