Dog reunited with mistress eight years after loss

A resident of the city of Barberton, South Africa, reunited with her dog eight years after the disappearance of the pet. The Beacon Journal website reports.

In 2012, Julia Nemeth’s dog Paige gave birth to ten puppies. The woman found owners for nine animals, and decided to keep one more for herself. She named him Junior. Nemeth taught him to understand gestures in order to be able to communicate with the dog and not wake the child.

One day, Nemeth returned home to find that Junior was missing. She was worried that someone might kidnap him for use in battles. She scanned ads on the internet hoping to find Junior.

At the time of Junior’s disappearance, Nemeth had a seven-month-old son. Since then she has had three more children, she moved in and got another dog.

In the end, Junior found himself in the animal welfare society and became a favorite of employees and volunteers. But at the sight of visitors, he barked and refused to communicate. They tried to shelter him three times, but each time the families decided that the dog was not suitable for them.

On Thursday, December 17, Nemeth saw Junior on the Society page. On the same day, the hostess came for him. “I cried like a child,” she admitted.

Nine-year-old Junior still understands some of the gesture commands. He does not let the owners out of sight. The dog calmly accepted the addition to the family.

“This is the best Christmas present I have ever received,” said Nemeth.

Earlier it was reported that a golden retriever in the US state of Missouri ran away from its owner and lived in the forest. A year later, volunteers found the dog and returned it to its owner.
