Presented Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.1 firmware, which continues the development of a branch based on the Ubuntu 24.04 package base. The firmware is being developed by the UBports project, which took over the development of the Ubuntu Touch mobile platform after Canonical pulled away from it. The project is also developing an experimental port of the desktop Unity 8, which has been renamed Lomiri.
Among the changes in Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.1:
- Added support for new devices:
- Nothing Phone
- OnePlus Nord N10
- OnePlus Nord N100
- Volla Tablet
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro (Global)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S/9 Pro (India)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
- Xiaomi Poco M2 Pro
- Morph browser enabled release of the QtWebEngine 6.11.2 engine, based on Chromium 140 with backpotting vulnerability fixes from new branches.
- Fixed an issue where the mouse pointer did not move when the screen was rotated.
- Added support for turning on the flashlight on the Volla Phone Plinius smartphone.
- Improved the stability of push notifications.
- The problem with using the on-screen keyboard in applications launched through Libertine (a utility for launching regular non-mobile desktop programs) has been resolved.
- Vulnerabilities that allowed restricted applications to gain additional privileges without entering a password have been fixed. For example, in lomiri-download-manager, a vulnerability has been fixed, which allowed the execution of arbitrary commands with root and without authentication, read any files in the system.
