Ukraine: number of hospitalizations infected with coronavirus jumped

In Ukraine, the average weekly number of hospitalized with COVID-19 jumped sharply. At the end of last week, it reached its maximum for the entire time of the epidemic – 2330 thousand people, reports Interfax-Ukraine .

According to the data of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, since the beginning of September, when the last time the stabilization of this indicator was recorded at the level of about 400 hospitalized patients, it grew continuously and by the end of November it reached 1670 people.

The skyrocketing number of hospital admissions comes amid a continuing decline in new cases of COVID-19 infection. At the end of November, they were recorded at about 14 thousand daily, while over the past day – 6451.

However, the decline in the number of new infections did not lead to a decrease in the number of deaths from COVID-19: the weekly average this figure over the past two weeks has grown from 180 to 216 people.

In Ukraine, since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, 900 666 infected with COVID-19 have been identified, 15 247 have died from coronavirus, 506 718 patients have recovered. The situation with the spread of infection in the country remains tense, with strict quarantine restrictions imposed from January 8 to 24.
