One dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Ukraine will cost seven dollars. Since each person needs two injections of the drug, the vaccination price per person will be $ 14. This was announced by the country’s chief sanitary doctor, deputy minister of health Viktor Lyashko on the air of the TV channel “Ukraine-24”, reports RIA Novosti .

“One dose of vaccine in the framework of the COVAX mechanism can cost $ 7. For a full two-time vaccination, you need $ 14,” he said. In total, the country will receive eight million doses for four million people, he said.

Lyashko added that 2.6 million hryvnias (92.3 thousand dollars) were allocated to the draft state budget for 2021 for the purchase of vaccines. By the end of this week, the project should be submitted to Verkhovna Rada for second reading.

Ukraine will receive a vaccine free of charge for 20 percent of the population as part of the COVAX project. According to Lyashko, Kyiv will spend the funds budgeted for the purchase of vaccines in excess of this amount.

COVAX is an international project launched by WHO in cooperation with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation, which supports capacity building and procurement. The goal of the project is to provide the participating countries with two billion doses of vaccine by the end of the year.
