Introduced distribution release Deepin 20.1 , based on the Debian package base, but developing its own Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) and about 40 custom applications, including DMusic music player, DMovie video player, DTalk messaging system, Deepin Software Center installer and installation center. The project was founded by a group of developers from China, but transformed into an international project. The distribution kit supports Russian. All developments are distributed under the GPLv3 license. Size of the boot iso image 2.9 GB (amd64). Desktop components and applications developed using C / C ++ (Qt5) and Go . The key feature of the Deepin desktop is a panel that supports multiple modes of operation. In classic mode, a more explicit separation of open windows and applications offered for launch is carried out, the system tray area is displayed. Efficient mode is somewhat similar to Unity, mixing indicators of running programs, selected applications and control applets (volume / brightness setting, connected drives, clock, network status, etc.). The program launch interface is displayed in full screen and provides two modes – viewing selected applications and navigating through the directory of installed programs.

Main innovations:

  • The package base is synchronized with Debian 10.6.
  • At the installation stage, you are given the opportunity to choose from two Linux kernels – 5.4 (LTS) or 5.8.
  • Optimizations have been made to the kernel and code to make the interface more responsive and to increase performance.
  • The configurator has added the ability to select three power plans – balanced, economical and providing high performance.

  • In addition to device pairing, a direct file transfer function has been added to Bluetooth settings.
