Russians predicted weather for first days of new year

Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand told the Russians about the weather in the first days of the new year. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti .

So, in the European part of the country, the weather and pressure will often change due to the struggle between the anticyclone and the cyclone. On January 1, the air temperature in Moscow will fluctuate around zero, but by January 3, daily indicators will drop below zero, while the pressure will gradually rise. Wilfand explained that the temperature regime was the same last year: not lower than 3-4 degrees and not higher than 3 degrees.

At the same time, uniform weather will be established in the west of European Russia. “The west of the central black earth, Bryansk, Tver, Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Murmansk [regions], Karelia – everywhere the temperature on New Year’s Eve will be above zero and the situation will not change significantly in the next three days,” the forecaster predicted.

In the east, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, night temperatures in the first days of 2021 will be in the range from minus 6 to minus 3 degrees. On the night of January 4, the temperature will drop to minus 9 degrees, and daily readings will be about minus 3.

Nothing special is expected in St. Petersburg, the meteorologist noted. So, until Monday, January 4, thermometers will show around zero.

A warm New Year is predicted in Crimea and the Black Sea coast. Daytime temperatures will reach 15 degrees Celsius.

Earlier, Vilfand said that in January 2021 in some regions of Russia the temperature will be above normal. It will be warmer than usual in the Leningrad, Tver, Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Novgorod, Murmansk regions, Karelia, Crimea, the west of Krasnodar and the north of Krasnoyarsk territories, as well as the north-west of Yakutia.

At the same time, abnormal cold weather is expected in the Amur, Tomsk, Omsk, Kemerovo and Novosibirsk regions, as well as in the Altai, Trans-Baikal, Primorsky Territories and Buryatia. In other regions, the temperature will almost coincide with the norm.
