Linux port for Nintendo 64 game consoles introduced

The Linux kernel developers mailing list introduces new Linux implementation for game consoles Nintendo 64 , produced from 1996 to 2003. It is noted that this is the third attempt to adapt Linux for the Nintendo 64, which, unlike previous ports, claims to be included in the core of the Linux kernel. Past attempts to port Linux to Nintendo 64 have not been completed and have the status Vaporware .

The Nintendo 64 is equipped with a 64-bit RISC MIPS processor running at 92MHz, comes with 4 or 8 MB of RAM, supports 640×480 output and 21-bit color per channel. The motivation for creating a new port for an outdated platform that has not been released for almost twenty years is the desire to stimulate the development of emulators and simplify the porting of games. bootloader and Firmware Image with Linux for Nintendo 64.
