Rospotrebnadzor assessed risk of contracting coronavirus at street events

Deputy Director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology Rospotrebnadzor Alexander Gorelov assessed the risk of contracting coronavirus at street events. He told RIA Novosti that the risk of infection in the open air is lower than indoors.

However, the epidemiologist recalled that the rules for preventing the spread of the virus should still be followed on skating rinks and slides.

“Outdoor activities have a significantly lower risk of infection. Nevertheless, crowds even outdoors are undesirable and potentially dangerous,” Gorelov explained.

According to him, all skating rinks, slides, other sports facilities and attractions should organize their work in such a way as to prevent the accumulation of a large number of people at rental points. Employees should also regulate the number of people in dressing rooms and on the sports facilities themselves.

Earlier, Vladislav Mohamed Ali, medical director of the SberZorovye service listed “Lente.ru” all the risks of New Year’s Eve in the coronavirus pandemic. According to him, during the holidays, the human body is under stress, so the risks of contracting coronavirus increase. He warned that the immune system is weakened, including drinking alcohol and going outside without a jacket or lightly dressed.
