WHO advised Europeans to celebrate New Year on street

The World Health Organization (WHO) advised the people of Europe in connection with the coronavirus pandemic to meet New Year and Christmas on the streets. WHO guidelines issued ahead of the holidays are posted at site of the organization.

“Whenever possible, meetings should be held outdoors, participants should wear masks and keep their distance,” the organization warned.

If the holidays are held indoors, not too many people should be gathered and the rooms should be ventilated, which will reduce the risk of infection. However, WHO recalled that such celebrations, even in small groups, are dangerous, as they are attended by people of different ages and from different families.

Also, WHO reported that in the first weeks of 2021 there is a large risk of a new outbreak of coronavirus infections in Europe if the necessary measures are not taken during the New Year holidays.
