A time capsule with a message from 1917 was found under famous house

In the US state of New York, builders found a time capsule with money from 1917 under the famous house-museum, according to the Daily Star.

A team of workers restored the historic Roslyn Grist Mill, one of the few remaining Dutch colonial-style frame buildings in the United States. During renovations, an old milk bottle was found under the house, containing two handwritten letters and coins.

The time capsule was placed 103 years ago during another restoration project. The notes were in different languages - English and Italian. The English version was owned by the owner of the carpentry shop, Stephen Speedling. The letter was written in Italian by Romolo Capparelli. He indicated in the message that it was he who designed the concrete roof for the building. Caparelli wanted his architectural design to go down in history.

“Pay attention, this is a gift that I have prepared for you, – wrote an Italian. – Romolo Capparelli invented a concrete roof and erected walls in the period 1916-17-ies. So remember us, your first bricklayer Romolo Capparelli”. His granddaughter Pam Storey confirmed that his grandfather was born in Italy, but later moved to New York and participated in the construction of the Roslyn Grist Mill.

According to Storey, her father told her that Capparelli hid a time capsule under the building. In addition, he left his initials at the main entrance of the house. “I am so glad that the message was found, and it is in pretty good condition,” said the granddaughter.

When the restoration is over, the found items will become museum exhibits.

Earlier it was reported that builders in the Polish city of Zambica found a church in the spire An 18th century time capsule dating from 1797. A message from the past was found during renovations in the church.
