Blanc Browser With Minimalistic Floating Panel

A new web browser, Blanc, is available, offering a distinctive interface with a minimalist floating panel that replaces traditional tab and toolbars, and combines capabilities for URL entry, search, tab switching, navigation and command execution. The reason for creating a new browser is the desire to return web pages to the role of the primary element, getting rid of excesses and clutter, such as built-in AI assistants. The code is written in JavaScript using the Electron platform and the Chromium engine, and is distributed under the MIT license. AI tools are used during development. Builds are generated for Linux (AppImage), Windows and macOS.

Tabs are shown in the form of a drop-down list that appears when you switch focus to the address line. It supports combining tabs into groups, unloading the contents of contributions from memory without closing the tabs themselves, and displaying two selected tabs side by side in one window. When you type “/” in the address bar, a list of commands appears, used instead of the traditional menu.

By default, ad and tracker blocking is enabled at the network level, using the EasyList and EasyPrivacy lists. Tabs in private mode open in a separate session, storing all data only in RAM. It is possible to separate history, downloads, site data and permissions issued to sites through profiles.
