ROSA Fresh 13.3 Distribution Has Been Published

STC IT ROSA has published the ROSA Fresh 13.3 distribution, built on the rosa 13 platform. The distribution is freely distributed and developed with community participation. The release is aimed at a wide range of users. Builds with KDE 6 desktops (4 GB) are available for download. KDE 5 (4 GB, LXQt (3 GB) and GNOME (4 GB), as well as builds for servers (2 GB) and virtual machines (947 MB). The repository contains packages for the aarch64, e2kv4, i686, loongarch64, riscv64 and x86_64 architectures.

Among the changes:

  • The Linux kernel has been updated to a branch 6.18 (previously it was 6.12, the 6.12 kernel continues to be updated on older installations, and the new one can be installed as the task-kernel-6.18-generic package).
  • Improved support for laptops, video cards, WiFi and Bluetooth adapters and network cards. The Mesa package has been updated to version 26.2.3. Additional Realtek drivers, linux-firmware, microcodes for Intel processors have been updated. AMD. The size of the linux-firmware package has been reduced by ~450 MB.
  • All executables and libraries are equipped with IMA signatures. IMA mode, which prevents the execution of third-party executables, can be enabled with the command “sudo imactl enable”.
  • KDE desktop has been updated to KDE Plasma 6.6, KDE Frameworks 6.29 and
KDE Gear 26.04.3. The graphic editor Krita 6.0.1 has been updated. The X11 session continues to be offered by default, but Wayland can also be selected.
  • Collapse group functionality has been implemented. Search by file contents has been improved and search by text of documents in RTF format has been provided.
  • The labeling of shortcuts has been moved to the lower left corner of the icons.
  • Added the ability to uninstall programs through the “Uninstall application” button in the context menu shown when right-clicking on the icon in the application menu (Start).
  • A function for checking the microphone through the graphical interface has been implemented.
  • By optimizing the deferred write cache settings, synchronization time has been reduced before removing USB flash drives and disks after recording a large amount of data on them. By default, the noatime option is enabled in the drive mounting settings to eliminate unnecessary write operations. It is simplified to change the owner of a file from the graphical environment.
  • When connecting a printer or when going to printing-related sections in the application menu (Start) and in the configurator, instead of the built-in KDE interface for managing the print queue, the system-config-printer program is used, which supports searching by printer models and working with the tray.
  • A program is included in the package btrfs-snapshot-gui for working with snapshots in BTRFS.
  • The gnome-network-displays program is pre-installed for wireless screen casting using the Miracast protocol (for example, to a TV).
  • On devices with a touch screen, the on-screen keyboard is automatically launched in an X11 session. A graphical interface has been implemented to configure keyboard autostart. Improved on-screen keyboard tray icon. A different on-screen keyboard is offered for the Wayland session.
