Release Of Mobile Platform /e/OS 4.3

Introduced the release of the mobile platform /e/OS 4.3, focused on the privacy of user data. The platform was founded by Gaël Duval (Gaël Duval), creator of the Mandrake Linux distribution. The project supports 287 smartphone models and generates firmware assemblies for the most popular of them. Based on smartphones OnePlus, Fairphone, Teracube, HIROH and Pixel prepared own editions of devices distributed with pre-installed firmware /e/OS under the brands Murena One, Murena 2, Murena Fairphone 4/5/6, Murena Teracube 2e, Murena Pixel 5/7 and Murena SHIFTphone 8.

The /e/OS firmware is being developed as an offshoot of the LineageOS platform (based on Android), free of connection to Google services and infrastructure to eliminate the transfer of telemetry to Google servers and increase the level of confidentiality. Among other things, implicit sending of information is also blocked, for example, calls to Google servers when checking network availability, resolving DNS and determining the exact time.

The delivery includes the microG package, which offers independent analogues of Google services, which eliminates the need to install proprietary components. To determine location via Wi-Fi and base stations (without GPS), the UnifiedNlp layer, capable of working through BeaconDB, OpenWlanMap, openBmap, OpenCellID, lacells.db and other alternative services. Instead of the Google search engine, a metasearch service Murena Find is offered based on the search engine Qwant.

To synchronize the exact time, instead of contacting the Google NTP server, requests are sent to servers from the collection NTP Pool, and instead of Google’s DNS servers (8.8.8.8), the current provider’s DNS servers are used. The web browser has an ad and script blocker enabled by default to track your movements. To synchronize files and application data, we have developed our own service, compatible with infrastructure based on Nextcloud. Server components are based on open source software and are available for installation on user-controlled systems.

The user interface includes its own environment for launching applications BlissLauncher
