Cornelius Schumacher, President of KDE e.V., analyzed statistics on the size of the KDE codebase. According to his findings, the total code size for the KDE Frameworks libraries, the KDE Plasma desktop environment, and the KDE Gear base application suite was 8,173,148 lines. This amount of code represents a significant increase from 2009, when the codebase contained 4,273,291 lines. Schumacher estimates that the total number of lines of code added to the repository, taking into account changed and deleted lines, is around 55 million.
Further analysis reveals that 16.2% of the active code comes from KDE PIM (Personal Information Management), 15.8% from KDE Plasma, 14% from KDE Frameworks, and 9.6% from KOffice/Caligra.
