Alt Linux has released an update to their Linux distribution called “Viola Workstation K 11.3.” This update offers the KDE desktop environment and is specifically designed for use in both office and home settings. The distribution is created for x86_64 architecture and is built on the 11th ALT platform. Users can download either an installation iso image (8.9 GB) or a separate Live assembly (5.5 GB).
Individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, can freely download and use the distribution. However, commercial and government organizations are required to purchase licenses or enter into written licensing agreements for permanent use in their corporate infrastructure. Testing the distribution is allowed for these organizations.
The update includes several changes:
- Updated user environment to KDE Plasma 6.5, KDE Gear 25.12, and KDE Frameworks 6.23.
- The LightDM KDE Greeter login screen now uses the Wayland protocol by default.
- Automatic theme switching between light and dark themes depending on the time of day has been implemented.
- Added applications like RSI Break for organizing work breaks and Stapler for connecting user repositories and installing third-party programs.
- Systems with hybrid graphics now have the option to use a discrete video card in launched applications.
- 32-bit NVIDIA driver libraries are included for compatibility with older applications and games.
