Generated distribution update Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, which includes changes related to improving hardware support, updating the Linux kernel and graphics stack, and fixing errors in the installer and bootloader. It also includes the latest updates for several hundred packages to address vulnerabilities and issues that affect stability. At the same time, similar updates were presented to Kubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Budgie 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu MATE 24.04.5 LTS, Lubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Kylin 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Studio 24.04.5 LTS, Xubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Edubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04.5 LTS and Ubuntu Unity 24.04.5 LTS.
The release includes some improvements backported from the Ubuntu 26.04 release. Packages with Linux kernel version 7.0 are offered (base kernel Ubuntu 24.04 – 6.8). Graphics stack components have been updated, including Mesa 26.0.3. New versions of video drivers for Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA chips have been added.
In builds for the desktop (Ubuntu Desktop), the new kernel and graphics stack are offered by default. For server systems (Ubuntu Server), the new kernel is added as an option in the installer. It only makes sense to use new builds for new installations – systems installed previously can receive all the changes present in Ubuntu 24.04.5 through the standard update installation system.
