It was his eighth final at Wimbledon and he raised for the seventh time the cup given to the winner, so atypical with a pineapple at its top. Sunday July 10 on the London lawn, Novak Djokovic won against Austalian Nick Kyrgios in four sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6/6-3).

With this fourth success in a row in London, the Serbian confirms that the Central Court has almost become his property: he has not suffered from it since he had lost in the final against Andy Murray in 2013, aligning thirty-eight victories.

With this new title, Novak Djokovic, world number three, now totals 21 victories in a Grand Chelem tournament. Which brings him back to a length of the Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

It will probably be the only success of Novak Djokovic this year in a “major”. In January, he could not defend his title to the Australian Open, expelled from the country because of his opposition to the vaccination against the COVVI.

Then, in June, he was beaten by Rafael Nadal in Roland-Garros. And, as at the start of the year in Australia, and for the same reasons, he may not be able to go to the United States, at the end of August, for the US Open, the last of the four adults.

In the meantime, he can invite Nick Kyrgios as he had promised before this final. “So are we friends now?” Launched the Australian on Instagram, after the Serbic reminded having appreciated his support during his setbacks in Australia. To which Novak Djokovic replied: “If you invite me to drink a blow or to dinner, I accept. And the winner of tomorrow will pay.” “Sold. Come on a nightclub and do the crazy”, Concludes Nick Kyrgios.
