US to withdraw space cooperation with Russia from sanctions

The United States will partially withdraw space cooperation with Russia from the sanctions adopted due to the situation with Alexei Navalny (founder of the Anti-Corruption Fund, included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent). This is stated in the statement of the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, its contents are reported by TASS.

This decision was made “in support of government space cooperation.” At the same time, the document notes that Russia will be denied export of defense technologies, with the exception of the space sector. However, in this area, commercial cooperation will be limited after six months of a transitional period.

Earlier, Washington released a list of Russians who fell under the sanctions. Among them are FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, FSIN Head Alexander Kalashnikov, Deputy Defense Minister Pavel Popov, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko and others.

On March 2, the United States announced the imposition of sanctions against seven high-ranking Russian officials due to the situation with Navalny. Before that, restrictions on the case of the oppositionist were imposed by the European Union.
