Sea otter caught a shark in front of photographers

Two Americans in Morro Bay, California, took unique photographs of a sea otter that appeared on the surface of the water with a large shark in its paws. USA Today drew attention to the footage with the sea otter.

November 10 Don Henderson (Don Henderson) and Alice Cahill (Alice Cahill) spotted a sea otter holding a large California bull shark in its paws. They took some pictures of the animal and showed them to the marine biologist Michael D. Harris ( Michael D. Harris of the California Department of Fish and Natural Resources.

“To the best of my colleagues and I know this is the first time a sea otter has caught a California bull shark,” Harris said.

On Saturday, November 14, the photos were posted on social networks by a non-profit organization that works to protect sea otters. “Unfortunately, we do not know how it all ended. Was it a search for food? Did the sea otter eat a shark and try to eat it? If this is not a search for food, what is the reason for this behavior of the sea otter?” – said Harris.

One Twitter user joked: “They are unhappy lovers, and nothing can convince me otherwise.”

Southern sea otters in Central California mainly feed on invertebrates such as sea urchins, crabs, abalone and shellfish. Northern sea otters, from Washington to Alaska, are more likely to feed on fish, possibly including sharks. They usually feed on the surface using their own breasts as a tray.

Earlier it was reported that a sea otter jumped into a boat to a resident of the American state Alaska in Kachemak Bay and escaped from killer whales hunting it. The man filmed a large otter in despair swam up to his boat and climbed onto the deck.
