“From 2021, the ratio of the minimum wage to the median wage is set at 42 percent,” the text says. In addition, the size of the minimum wage cannot be reduced even if the median salary is reduced, and the amount of payments must be agreed annually with trade unions and employers.

So, according to the new law, starting from January 1, 2021, the minimum wage will be 12,792 rubles. Accordingly, in 2022 it will be calculated based on the median salary in the previous year.

At the same time, the amount of the minimum wage cannot be lower than the amount of the subsistence minimum, which is calculated taking into account the average per capita income of Russians for the previous year. At the same time, the amount of payment for the next year cannot be lower than its amount in the current year.

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatiana Golikova stated that from January 1, 2021, the minimum wage (minimum wage) will increase by 5.5 percent, up to 12 792 rubles, and for the first time will exceed the cost of living.
