Shooting in Bordeaux: a teenager killed and four people injured

The exact circumstances and the motive behind the shooting that claimed the life of a teenager on Saturday January 2 are not yet known.

A 16-year-old teenager was killed on Saturday January 2 in the Aubiers district, north of Bordeaux. The shooting, which took place late in the evening, also injured four other young people. The emergency services intervened after 11 p.m. on the report of a gunshot wound, in a district which had already been the scene of incidents on New Year’s Eve. Firefighters were unable to save a critically injured 16-year-old. He was declared dead shortly after on his arrival at the Bordeaux University Hospital.

According to a police source, in a building near which the shots had been fired, the emergency services also discovered two other teenagers, from thirteen and sixteen, also shot and wounded. They were hospitalized at the Bordeaux University Hospital and although one of them is seriously injured, their vital prognosis is not engaged.

Two other minor injuries

Another a thirteen-year-old boy was also slightly injured, and another youngster, also not seriously injured, presented himself later in a clinic in Bordeaux-Nord.

The Bordeaux prosecutor’s office has confirmed the shooting and the results, but without specifying the exact circumstances or the causes.

On New Year’s Eve, incidents were repeated in this same district of Aubiers: bus and tram stops were destroyed, a post office burned down, and the police came under fire from mortars. artifice and projectiles during his interventions. The district is also the site of sporadic rivalries between young people from different districts in the north of the Bordeaux conurbation. The incidents of the night of Saint-Syvelstre had not injured anyone, and two days later had not given rise to arrests.
