Merkel announced extension of strict quarantine in Germany

The German authorities have decided to extend the strict quarantine in the country until January 31. This was reported by Reuters citing German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Merkel said that additional measures will be taken in Germany to prevent the spread of coronavirus. She also called on all residents of the country to reduce their social contacts to the “absolute minimum”. It is noted that previously the regime of strict restrictive measures operated in Germany until January 10.

Earlier, several federal states of Germany most affected by the coronavirus epidemic demanded from the government extend lockdown.

Since December 16, the German authorities have introduced the strictest quarantine in the history of the country from – for the coronavirus pandemic.
