Gunzburg admitted existence of a “Russian” strain of coronavirus

A special “Russian” strain of coronavirus most likely exists, but it has not yet been identified. The existence of a mutation characteristic of Russia was admitted by the head of the Gamaleya center, Alexander Gintsburg, RIA Novosti reports on Monday, January 11.

“We are looking forward to when our country discovers its own Russian strain with altered properties, if already in Britain, in South Africa, in Brazil, there are strains of their own,” said Gunzburg.

According to him, Russian specialists are sequencing significantly fewer virus samples than in the UK, so the new strain has not yet been identified.
