Dodon urged Sandu to start dissolving parliament

Leader of the Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM), former president of Igor Dodon the current head of state, Maia Sandu, to begin the procedure for dissolving parliament as soon as possible, reports TASS .

According to him, the government of Ion Chicu, formed by the socialists, resigned on December 23, “paving the way” for the dissolution of deputies and the appointment of early elections.

“We call on the president to initiate the legal procedures that we launched a week ago to dissolve parliament as soon as possible,” Dodon said. “It is obvious to everyone that parliamentary elections will take place in 2021, there are no other options at this stage.” /

He added that in the current parliament, the socialists will not participate in any coalitions.

Previously, Sandu held consultations with parliamentary factions. Now she is obliged to nominate a candidate for the post of prime minister. If parliament rejects it twice, then within 45 days the president has the right to sign a decree dissolving it and set the date for the elections.

On November 15, the second round of the presidential elections took place in Moldova. It was won by former Prime Minister Sandu with 57.75 percent of the vote. Dodon received 42.25 percent. Sandu was inaugurated on December 24.
