IMF denies emergency financial aid to Ukraine

International Monetary Fund (IMF) refused to allocate a tranche to Ukraine emergency financial assistance program. This was stated on the air of the 1 + 1 TV channel by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergey Marchenko , reports RIA Novosti .

According to him, Ukraine was given a clear answer that it needs to work within the framework of the current program and fulfill its conditions, and the Fund does not consider the issue of emergency assistance.

In September, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel following a visit to Ukraine asked Kiev not to wait for the solution of problems by some external forces. The diplomat in a conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the European Union should not be taken as charity or ATM to withdraw money.

In June, it became known that the European Union provided a loan to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million euros to support the country’s economy due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, the IMF approved a loan to Ukraine for a period of one and a half years. The provision of money was approved under the stand-by lending mechanism. The size of the support program for Ukraine is $ 5 billion.
