A maintenance release of Firefox 154.0.1 is available, introducing six fixes:
- Fixed issues causing slow access to stored passwords and unnecessarily prompting for a master password to unlock the password vault.
- Fixed bug, due to which autocomplete of addresses did not work on some sites.
- Solved problem that caused to failure to establish HTTP connections with devices on the local network without first displaying an access confirmation request.
- Fixed a crash that occurred when opening intranet sites that link to files on local network storage.
- Windows-specific issues have been resolved, leading to re-adding shortcuts to the start menu and incorrect trimming of tab titles when the font was set in the system MS UI Gothic.
In addition, the developers from Mozilla adopted the decision enable support for decoding JPEG-XL images by default in Firefox 157. Firefox 157 is scheduled for release on September 29. Like Chrome, the JPEG-XL implementation added to Firefox is based on the jxl-rs library written in Rust. JPEG XL reduces file sizes by up to 60% compared to JPEG images of identical quality.
