PuTTY Launches Alternative Build With File Sessions

An alternative build of the SSH client PuTTY 0.84 has been published, featuring enhancements taken from the now-defunct fork KiTTY. The integration of KiTTY features into the current PuTTY version was mainly done using ChatGPT/Codex, focusing on improving the interface and user experience while keeping the core PuTTY functionality intact.

Key changes in this updated version include storing sessions and settings in separate files, a separate launcher in the system tray, the ability to adjust font size with the “Ctrl+mouse wheel” combination, automatic saving of window size and position, and the “Ctrl+Shift+left click” shortcut to open URLs. Additionally, the default cursor mode is now set to “xterm-style bitmap,” ensuring proper display and functionality of the cursor in applications like Midnight Commander.
