Valve Releases Steam Controller CAD Files, Linux Soars

Valve has released detailed drawings, models, and design data for the Steam Controller case and Steam Controller Puck docking station. The information is available in STP and STL formats and is distributed under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, allowing users to copy, distribute, and create derivative works for non-commercial purposes, with proper attribution and license preservation. In addition, a recent report on user preferences on Steam for April highlighted that 4.52% of active users are utilizing the Linux platform. This figure was 5.33% in March, 2.23% in February, 3.38% in January, and 3.58% in December 2025. The percentage has been fluctuating in recent years, with 2.27% in April 2025 and 1.9% in April 2024.

Among the Linux systems, the SteamOS Holo platform, based on Arch Linux, has the largest share at 23.05% (down from 24.48% in March). Linux Mint follows with 8.98%, Arch Linux at 8.78%, CachyOS at 8.37%, Ubuntu at 7.47% (increased from 5.25%), Bazzite at 4.74%, Fedora at 3.15%, Manjaro at 1.42% (slight decrease from 1.45%), and Debian at 1.40%.
