A new release of the StartWine-Launcher 421 application has been published, designed to run programs and games compiled for the Windows platform on Linux systems. The main objective behind developing StartWine-Launcher was to simplify the process for beginners in creating Wine prefixes, which are essential Windows libraries and dependencies needed to run Windows applications on Linux. The code for StartWine-Launcher is written in Python and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. The interface of the application is based on the GTK library.
The main changes in this release include updated prefix configurations, an updated list of Wine versions, updated language standards, updated libraries and drivers in the container, and various bug fixes and improvements. A function to terminate running StartWine processes before installation has been added, along with a dialog box for downloading images through the built-in browser. Bugs in the taskbar menu, updating installed application data, displaying shortcut images, and progress bar issues when loading games from platforms like GOG and Epic Games have been fixed. The installation script has also been improved.
