Linux Competitions for Kids & Youth Set for March

Registration is now open for children’s and youth competitions in Linux, known as “Linux-skills”, as part of the technical creativity festival “TechnoKakTUS”. The competition features two categories: Alt-skills (ALT Linux) and Calculate-skills (Calculate Linux), with participants divided into three age groups: 10-13 years old, 14-17 years old, and 18-22 years old.

Between March 1 and March 10, 2026, an online qualifying stage will be conducted, during which participants will undergo testing. The final round is scheduled to take place from March 25 to April 1, 2026. During the final, participants will have access to a virtual platform where they will be required to set up a network and transfer workstations from MS Windows to Linux. Subsequently, they will need to configure Linux systems and networks.

The competition utilizes Simply Linux and Calculate Linux distributions, as well as OpenWRT on routers. The final event will be conducted in person at designated venues in Moscow, the Moscow region (Shchelkovo), and St. Petersburg. Additionally, upon request, venues can be arranged in other cities to accommodate participants.
