Published release of the composite server Wayland Maker 0.8, implementing a user environment in the style of Window Maker built using the Wayland protocol. Supported features include: stacked window layout, virtual desktops, sidebar, NeXTSTEP-style design, support for pinning applications on the screen, focus on lightweight and high performance, and the ability to run X11 applications using XWayland. The project supports Wayland protocols such as xdg-decoration, ext_session_lock, wlr_layer_shell, wlr-output-management, xdg_shell, and idle_inhibit. The code is written in C and distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
In the new version:
- Added the ability to change the theme while working. A search function for available themes has been added to the wlmtool utility, which is also placed in the root menu. An option has been added to the Config.plist configuration file to select a theme to be loaded by default.
- Support for cursor themes loaded from the /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme and /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme directories has been provided.
- The ability to configure a keyboard shortcut for moving windows has been provided.
- An algorithm has been implemented for optimal window placement.
- An interface has been added to control the backlight through the brightnessctl utility, called from the menu or through a key combination.
- Added settings for actions on the touchpad (touch to click, scroll with two fingers, etc.).
- Added the wlmbattery application to the system tray to show the battery charge level and indicate the connection to a stationary power supply.
- Added customizable key combinations (Alt+) for emulation right-click.
