Chinese scientists forced male rats to give birth

Chinese scientists from the Naval Medical Medical University in Shanghai made males rats to endure and give the offspring. According to the Chinese publication Global Times, it became possible due to the complex operation.

Male pregnancy in rodents took place in several stages. At first, scientists joined the blood flow of a neutered male with the female blood flow to maintain its body with hormones. For this, animals made long-term cuts on the skin and sewed together in pairs. Then after eight weeks, the malemen transplanted the uterus of another female individual. After restoring both animals, embryo was put on an early stage of development. Young removed with cesarean sections for 21 days.

from all embryos survived only 3.68 percent: six males were able to endure 10 beats. Scientists are confident that this experiment confirms the ability of the mammal male to derive offspring, and the results of the work may have a “deep impact on the reproductive biology.” However, some scientists doubt the practical benefits of the study, noting that the animals participating in the experiment are essentially females.

Earlier, Australian scientists found that one of the breeds of African honey bees is capable of producing almost identical clones of working females. This allows insects to avoid the harmful effects of virgin reproduction.
