Australia’s cities sent to quarantine because of Indian strain

Residents of the largest cities of Australia are outraged due to the fact that they were sent to quarantine, as well as due to slow vaccination. The new restrictive measures of power were resorted due to the distribution of a more infectious Indian strain of coronavirus, which is also called the Delta strain, writes The Guardian.

Hard measures were introduced in the capital of Sydney, as well as in Brisbane, Perth and Darwin. The reason for them was new outbreaks, the total affected about 150 people. These are rather big figures for Australia: for all time the pandemic there is only about 31 thousand cases of contamination coronavirus and 910 deaths associated with it. Experts believe that such a result provided the timely closure of borders and one of the most stringent quarantine measures in the world.

Australian population, however, far behind Europe and the USA in vaccination speed: so far, the vaccination received only about 5 percent of Australians. The authorities in the near future plan to speed up this process – there are concerns that otherwise the restrictions will not have the necessary action.

As of Monday, June 28, the number of coronavirus infected in Russia during the day increased by 21,650 people. The total number of infected reached 5 472 941. Most cases – 7246 – recorded in Moscow. The leaders in incidence of incidence per day are also the Moscow region (2722 cases) and St. Petersburg (1335 cases).
