WHO: distribution of Indian strain of Covid-19 in dozens of countries

The World Health Organization (WHO) disseminates the Indian strain of coronavirus in dozens of countries. This is stated in the report published on the organization’s website.

WHO reported that the spread of the strain B.1.617 was officially confirmed at least in 53 countries. In addition, unofficial data obtained by the organization suggests that this kind of coronavirus was discovered in seven countries. Thus, a new strain can circulate in 60 countries.

The organization noted that this strain of coronavirus is characterized by a greater infinity. The data relating to the severity of the disease caused by them and the risk of re-infection is still being studied.

The number of cases of COVID-19 in India grows from mid-February due to the spread of a new variety of coronavirus. According to the number of dead, the country was published in the third place in the world: over 300 thousand people died from the virus. As of May 24, in Russia officially revealed 14 cases of infection with Indian strain coronavirus.
