FSB offered West to open access to encrypted correspondence

Russia offered the West to access the encryption keys from mobile applications so that law enforcement agencies can quickly get them, in particular to the correspondence. On this deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Oleg Syromolotov told in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“I would like to pay attention to the counter-terrorist initiative of the FSB of Russia to create a universal system of trusted storage of encryption keys from mobile applications … I will not delve into the details. I will not only be perceived by the proposal of the proposal,” the diplomat said .

In his opinion, the risks of information, “praising violence and terrorism”, are associated with social networks. In addition, rasomolots pointed to the risk of radicalization of the population in social networks. Deputy head of the Foreign Ministry believes that social networks can be used to influence individual social groups – including young people.

According to the Law “On Operational Festival Activities”, the FSB can access the telephone conversations of citizens or their correspondence, if it requests it from Internet companies and receive a court ruling.

In addition, in 2016, the so-called Sumari law entered into force – a package of amendments that should have been opposed to terrorism. After the terrorist attack at the St. Petersburg subway in April 2017, the FSB stated that he was preparing through Telegram, and demanded access to the correspondence of some users. Telegram refused, referring to the fact that the requirement of security officials is technically impossible.
