The diplomat stressed that at the same time Cuba has been suffering from the “equivalent genocide” of the blockade from Washington for 60 years. In addition, the Cuban Ambassador said that Havana was decisively against the practice of politicization, the electoral approach and double standards in the field of human rights.
In early 2021, the former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed that the United States returned Cuba to the list of countries in the sponsors of terrorism. According to Pompeo, the United States went to this step due to “repeated support of acts of international terrorism and the shelter of terrorists” from the Cuban side.
