Russia and United States revealed data on their nuclear arsenals

Russia and the United States revealed data on the number of rockets and nuclear warheads for the first time after the extension of the Treaty on measures to further reduce and limit the strategic offensive arms (DSNV, the unofficial name – START-3). This is stated on the website of the State Department.

It is specified that the last exchange of information about nuclear arsenals occurred on September 1, 2020. So, for six months, Moscow has increased the number of nuclear warheads by nine, and Washington, in turn, has reduced 100.

According to the latest data, Russia has expanded 517 intercontinental ballistic missiles, ballistic missiles on submarines and heavy bombers, and the USA – 651. Also in Russia on these carriers 1456 warheads (against 1447 in September), US 1357 (in September – 1457).

In addition, Russia has increased by three number of deployed and uneven starting plants – now they are 767. The USA has not changed since last year – 800.

Moscow and Washington exchanged notes about the extension of the DSNV on February 3. The rocket contract will act as signed, until February 5, 2026.

Earlier, the spokesman for the White House, Jen Psaki, also mentioned the extension of START-3, speaking about contact points between US President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. According to her, the heads of two state agree that it is necessary to look for ways to continue cooperation in those areas where the national interests of the two countries coincide.
