Release of aTox 0.6.0, a private and secure messenger for Android

release aTox 0.6.0 – a new version of the free open source mobile messenger using the Tox (c-toxcore) protocol . Tox offers a decentralized P2P messaging model that uses cryptographic techniques to identify a user and protect transit traffic from interception. The application is written in the Kotlin programming language. The source code and ready-made assemblies of the application are distributed under the GNU GPLv3 license.

Features of aTox:

  • Open source: free to redistribute, explore and modify.
  • Convenience: simple and straightforward settings.
  • End-to-end encryption: the only people who can see your correspondence are you and your interlocutors.
  • Distributed: no central servers that can be turned off or from which your data can be transferred to someone else.
  • Lightweight: no telemetry, ads, or other forms of surveillance, and the installer for the current version of the app weighs only 14 megabytes.
