Thousands of Toyota and Lexus sold in Russia turned out to be dangerous

Tens of thousands of potentially dangerous sold Toyota and Lexus vehicles have begun to be recalled from Russia. This is stated in a message published on the Rosstandart website. It turned out that there was a defect in the machines that could lead to a short circuit and a fire.

The review applies to 82 405 Lexus LX570 and Toyota LC200 cars sold between January 31, 2013 and the present. “Cars are equipped with heated windshield washer nozzles to prevent freezing of the washer fluid inside, and due to the nature of the seal that holds the heater inside the nozzle, there is a possibility of cracks in the heater over time,” the message says.

Rosstandart added that water with anti-icing reagents can penetrate the heating element, which risks provoking overheating, and in the worst case, fire. If the car is in the recall campaign, the owners need to contact the dealership: they will replace the windshield washer nozzles with modernized ones for free.

In the summer of 2020, a large-scale recall campaign of Datsun on-DO and mi-DO models took place. The reason was a defect in the airbag. In an accident, it can be triggered with such force that the cushion body collapses, and metal fragments are thrown into the passenger compartment, which can harm the driver or passenger.
