Lukashenko announced date of All-Belarusian People’s Assembly

The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko named the date of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, it will be held on 11 -12th of February. BelTA informs about it on Monday, December 28.

He said that the current event will take place at a more controversial time than the first meeting, since Belarus has not experienced such external pressure.

“This is the peculiarity of the current period and the current All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. It was not easy then, as I said, but there was no such external pressure. All huge countries were busy with their own problems,” Lukashenko said.

Earlier, he spoke about the upcoming constitutional reform aimed at redistributing powers between government authorities.

“The most democratic scheme, in all democratic states, is exactly this: the government introduced, the parliament agreed – if it is a law, the head of state signs it or rejects it, if the principles established by the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly are violated. For the next five years, the basic principles of our states will be established by this congress of the people, “Lukashenko promised.

Since the beginning of August, mass protests have continued in Belarus, caused by the official results of the presidential elections, according to which Lukashenko won 80 percent of the vote.
