Russia considered emergence of “covid passports” inevitable

“Covid passports” for citizens who are immune from the coronavirus will become an inevitable reality next year. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, ” Interfax “.

According to him, in 2021 such an initiative can be implemented for safe travel. Thus, vaccinated citizens are exposed to significantly lower risks. “A number of countries will introduce it faster, others – more slowly. But, of course, there will also be flights on airplanes either by testing systems or by vaccine passports,” Dmitriev predicted.

He agreed that this idea currently sounds “a little strange”, but in a year this state of affairs will become reality and “no one will ask questions.”

Formerly director of the Gamaleya Center Alexander Gintsburg supported the idea of introducing” covid passports “for Russians vaccinated against coronavirus. He considered it correct to introduce them simultaneously with the start of vaccination, so that everyone has a document confirming that he is vaccinated and for a certain period of time is completely protected from the possibility of contracting coronavirus.

At the same time the speaker Federation Council Valentina Matvienko called a dystopian idea of special passports for Russians vaccinated against coronavirus. At the end of November, a member of the State Duma health protection committee Alexander Petrov called such a measure absurd from the point of view of medicine, since some may have immunity for several months, while others will only have enough for a month.

In May, the chapter Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko spoke about the possible appearance of a” passport of immunity “in Russia. He pointed out that data on citizens infected with coronavirus are contained in a special database, information about those hospitalized with signs of pneumonia and those who have been in contact with patients is also entered there.
