Alt Workstation 11.2 Distribution Released

Linux distribution update published “Viola Workstation 11.2“, offering the GNOME desktop environment and designed for office and home use. The assemblies are prepared for x86_64 and aarch64 architectures, and are built on the 11th ALT platform. An installation ISO image (8.2 GB) has been created for downloading.

Only individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, can freely use the downloaded version. Commercial and government organizations can download and test the distribution, but for permanent work in the corporate infrastructure, legal entities must purchase licenses or enter into written licensing agreements.

Basic changes:

  • Updated package versions include Linux kernel 6.12.94 (version 6.18 is optionally available in the repository), GNOME 48 (GNOME Software 49), GTK 4.20.3, libadwaita 1.8.3 and Systemd 257.9.
  • The ALT Panelmode has been updated. When you switch to panel mode, windows are given Minimize and Maximize buttons. The clipboard-indicator manager has been replaced by Copyous.
    Dash to Panel uses the Resources application as a system monitor. The dist-extensions mechanism has been implemented for flexible configuration of system extensions for each design mode.
