Cafes and restaurants closed for five days in St. Petersburg

A ban on the operation of cafes and restaurants has come into force in St. Petersburg. According to the Governor’s decree Alexander Beglov , from December 30, 2020 to January 3, 2021 all catering establishments will be closed, recalls TASS .

Takeout and delivery services are not restricted. Industrial canteens and catering will also continue to operate at railway stations, at the airport and at gas stations. In addition, about a hundred establishments have received permission to install winter terraces – they can work from 08:00 to 00:00, tables must be cleaned at night.

The ban on the operation of cafes in food courts and catering establishments located in shopping centers continues.

The corresponding five-day ban on the operation of cafes and restaurants was announced in early December. Head of the city administration Rospotrebnadzor Natalia Bashketova advised tourists to refuse to travel to St. Petersburg. According to her, at the moment the situation with the coronavirus in the city is tense, due to the heavy burden on the healthcare system.

In the period from December 20 to January 10, access to the Leningrad Zoo, museums and theaters, exhibitions and concerts will be closed. The authorities recommended that the full price of tickets be returned to pensioners and people with chronic diseases. Any events of more than 50 people are prohibited, as well as tourist and sightseeing trips by bus. All organizations and entrepreneurs need to strengthen measures to disinfect their premises, retail outlets, public transport, taxis, train stations, airports.
